Chair Yoga comes to the Swansea Council on Aging. Yoga has been shown to help alleviate or reduce many health challenges. The many benefits of Yoga have even been said to slow down the physical ailments associated with the aging process. Health benefits have included improvements in Sleep; Strength/Arthritis; Diabetes; Hypertension; Excess Weight; Mood/Anxiety; Depression; Chronic Pain as well as Breathing. Project Hope - 3 Month Fitness Challenge
The Swansea COA brings back PROJECT HOPE! This 3 -month DVD-led fitness challenge focuses on Health Optimism Passion and Energy. Join us Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays at 3PM. There is no residency or age restriction and it’s FREE!
ZUMBA! Free at the COA
ZUMBA! Ditch the workout and join the party with “ZUMBA!” This special program is a Latin-inspired dance fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music with dance movements. Our Zumba Fitness routine is a low to moderate impact, cardio-based workout to tone the entire body. This FREE fitness program will take place on Wednesdays at 10:00 AM. Chair Exercise - Daily
Staying healthy is one thing we all strive for. We all know how important daily exercise is toward achieving that goal. It can, however, be more difficult as we age. For some of us, physical constraints, aches and pains may prevent us from the exercise we need. That's why the Swansea Council on Aging offers a chair exercise program daily. These exercises are gentle but effective. Improve your flexibility while increasing muscle strength. These sessions are held Monday - Friday at 10:30 AM.

Fitness DVD Series
How can we be sure our fitness programs meet your needs? It's simple - We'll give you a variety of formats to choose from! We are pleased to inform you that (through grant funding received from the Executive Office of Elder Affairs) the COA has purchased a 60" television and a variety of fitness DVDs for your enjoyment. Whether you prefer to work out alone, with a couple of your closest friends or as part of a group session, the Swansea COA introduces "Stronger Seniors". This series of DVDs includes "Stretch & Strength", "Core Fitness - Chair Exercise" and "Yoga".
We will also include "Jane Fonda: Prime-time: Fit & Strong". If DVDs aren't for you, wii (pronounced 'we') just may challenge you to a game of tennis or a little bowling on our Nintendo Wii. Come join the fun! To learn more or to register, please call (508) 676-1831.
